They had spent the war innovating new, deadlier weaponry. In Jules Verne’s 1865 novel From the Earth to the Moon, members of the fictitious Baltimore Gun Club, all disabled Civil War veterans, restlessly search for a new enemy to conquer. The Phase 1 winners are scheduled to be announced on August 13. The Challenge is currently in Phase 1, and while I can’t find any information on Phase 2, the fact that there’s a Phase 1 does imply that the winning team (or teams) might have the opportunity to further prove out their concept in additional challenge phases. It’s good to see that some testing has already been done on Earth to characterize how rocket plumes interact with a simulated icy lunar surface, but managing all the extra dust and rocks that will get blasted up along with the ice particles could be the biggest challenge here, especially for a system that has to excavate a lot of this stuff over a long period of time.įortunately, this is all part of what NASA will be evaluating through its Break the Ice Challenge. The concept video looks pretty awesome, but there’s certainly a lot of work that needs to be done to prove the rocket mining system out, especially once you get past the component level. It’s a little bit tricky to get a sense of how well a concept like this might work. And Lunar Outpost were some of the folks behind the MOXIE system on the Perseverance Mars rover. Honeybee Robotics has developed hardware for a variety of missions, including Mars missions. Masten has built a variety of operational rocket systems, and is developing some creative and useful ideas with NASA funding like rockets that can build their own landing pads as they land. The stored water can be electrolyzed as needed into oxygen and hydrogen utilizing solar energy to continue powering the rocket engine for more than 5 years of water excavation! This system would also allow us to rapidly excavate desiccated regolith layers that can be collected and used to develop additively manufactured structures.ĭespite the horrific backronym (it couldn’t be a space mission without one, right?) the solid team behind this rocket mining system makes me think that it’s not quite as crazy as it sounds. Our system doesn’t require heavy machinery or ongoing maintenance. And most importantly, it’s scalable and cost effective. Unlike traditional mechanical excavators, the rocket mining approach would allow us to access frozen volatiles around boulders, breccia, basalt, and other obstacles. During this process, ejecta from multiple rocket firings blasts up into the dome and gets funneled through a vacuum-like system that separates ice particles from the remaining dust and transports it into storage containers. It utilizes a 100 lbf rocket engine under a pressurized dome to enable deep cratering more than 2 meters below the lunar surface. This method disrupts lunar soil with a series of rocket plumes that fluidize ice regolith by exposing it to direct convective heating. (It’s what they call, brace yourself, their Resource Ore Concentrator using Kinetic Energy Targeted Mining-ROCKET M.) The agency has launched a competition to solve this lunar ice mining challenge, and one of competitors thinks they can do it with a big robot, some powerful vacuums, and a rocket engine used like a drilling system. The extraction and purification of this dirty lunar ice is not an easy problem, and NASA is interested in creative solutions that can scale. If that water ice can be extracted, it can be turned into breathable oxygen, rocket fuel, or water for thirsty astronauts. This is certainly the case for Mars, and it’s likely also the case for the Moon-even though the Moon is not all that far away (in the context of the solar system). It’s stupendously inefficient to send stuff there, especially when that stuff is, with a little bit of effort, available on the Moon already.Ī mix of dust, rocks, and significant concentrations of water ice can be found inside permanently shaded lunar craters at the Moon’s south pole. Realistically, in-situ resource utilization seems like the only way of sustaining human presence outside of low Earth orbit.

Don’t forget to switch your business website towards responsiveness by getting benefitted from top website design company in Dubai for meeting customers’ requirements comprehensively. Responsiveness not only connects the user to a website but also enhances their web interaction and experience. So, the world now wants responsive features and applications. It is evident from the fact that businesses in Dubai are now rooting out for responsive web designs due to its high demand, interactivity, and noticeable engagement rate. This paradigm shift is now significantly seen in the Middle East and Gulf countries besides other regions of the world. It indicates that more people will utilize their mobile phones in the future rather than a desktop or a computer for internet access. Whereas 34% of the mobile phone owners who access the internet from their mobile prefer to do internet browsing through their phones only without resorting to a desktop or a computer for internet access. According to Pew Internet, 63% of adult mobile phone owners use their mobile phones to conduct internet browsing and satisfy their internet needs. Many people used to wonder whether the responsive design is the next big thing or just a fad. Once the site evaluates the screen size, it automatically adjusts and scales (down or up) the layout and size accordingly. This is just a way of saying that your site can detect the screen size of the device that it’s being displayed on. The images are also sized relatively because that prevents the images from overlapping with other parts of the grid on different screen sizes. The size is usually based on relative units like percentages instead of absolute units like a number of pixels. The different elements on a webpage are laid out in a grid. There are three basic features behind a responsive design: Responsive design makes use of flexible grid systems and media queries that are suitable for displaying in all sorts of devices ranging from smartphones, tablets to desktop PCs. It should be reminded that it doesn't rocket science to execute such a site. Many people wonder about the basic fundamentals behind website responsiveness. The same is true about business websites because it’s not just a collection of web pages but the digital presence of corporate identity for businesses! The way you're going to move is quite dictated by your shoes.” - Christian Louboutin. “A shoe is not only a design, but it's a part of your body language, the way you walk. So, responsiveness is a designing approach that suggests interactivity in website and is responsive towards the user's behavior and environment according to screen size, device medium, and orientation. In 2013, Mashery declared the year as a Year of Responsive Web Design. This way the website ensures that it remains easy to use, whether it is being read on a large desktop screen or a small mobile screen. Once you zoom in, the layout will get narrowed down to two columns if you zoom in further, the layout will squeeze down to one column. The original website will be presented in a three-page layout. You may find many examples out there one of the most common responsive design patterns is the three-column layout. The content is downloaded in whole and is then rearranged to suit the screen size better. In this case, the website holds the same URL for all devices and the website then adjusts itself according to the screen size it is catering. In slightly technical terms, responsive web design is mainly the client-side rendering of the website. No matter what the screen size is, the website will always be adjusted to suit the device’s display panel. Responsive design mainly means that the elements on the page are configured in such a way that if the page were resized, the entire layout of the page would be modified to better accommodate the content according to the screen size on which it is viewed. So, let’s dive into the concept for better understanding: For all the website holders out there, many of you have heard the term responsive web design, but not really everyone has an idea of what it is. Interactive web designs are the new black! They are a paradigm shift for the industry and are undoubtedly responsible for instant audience engagements and quick conversion rate. “A designer knows he has achieved perfection not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” (Antoine de Saint-Exupery) Also programs which support reading from txt files (such as KBMedia Player) can read the info. Generate info.txt - with this cool feature you can generate the info.txt file with all tune information and save it somewhere, which means you'll have something like "tune ID card"! :) This has cool advantages - it's small, fastly readable/editable, you can add it to the tune archive if you want and you will have everytime fast information about the game and music archive. A DFTmethods were carried outusing window version of Gaussian 09 software at B3LYP exchange and 6-311G basis. In comparison with tetracene, both rubrene and tetracene exhibit the same fluorescent backbone, but due to the addition of functional group, the backbone of rubrene is twisted and planar for tetracene. It exhibits low stability and delocalization. Rubrene (5, 6, 11, 12-tetraphenyltetracene) is a prototype fluorescent molecule holding the record for the highest field effect mobility of organic semiconductors. The results confirmed the effects of solvents on the structural, electronic and thermodynamic properties of the studied molecule and will be useful in the design and development of rosiglitazone as an anti-diabetic drug. The vibrational frequencies and intensities increased as the dielectric constants of the solvents increased from ethanol to water. The total energy increased as the dielectric constants of the solvents decreased from water to ethanol. The highest value of the dipole moment of 4.6874 D was found in water indicating that the molecule will have the strongest intermolecular interactions in water compared to other solvents and in the gas phase. The chemical hardness was found to slightly increase with the increase in dielectric constants of the solvents. The chemical softness of the molecule was found to decrease as the dielectric constants of the solvents increased namely from ethanol to water. The largest HOMO-LUMO gap of 4.285 eV was found in water which shows its higher kinetic stability and less chemical reactivity compared to other solvents and in the gas phase. The lowest LUMO energy of -1.448 eV was found to be in ethanol which shows that the molecule will best accept electron in ethanol compared to the gas phase and other solvents. The values of the HOMO were observed to increase with the decrease in dielectric constants of the solvents across all the basis sets used. The highest HOMO value of -5.433 eV was found in gas phase showing that the molecule will best donate electron in the gas phase, followed by ethanol in comparison with other solvents. From the results obtained, the solvents have little influence on the optimized parameters of the molecule. Windows version of Gaussian 09 was used for all the calculations. The parameters (bond lengths and bond angles), HOMO, LUMO, HOMO-LUMO energy gap, dipole moment, thermodynamic properties, total energy and vibrational frequencies and intensities of the Rosiglitazone molecule in gas phase and in solvents (Water, Ethanol, DMSO and Acetonitrile) were calculated based on Density Functional Theory (DFT) using standard basis sets: B3LYP/6-31G(d,p), B3LYP/6-31+G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p). Rosiglitazone ( C18H19N3O3S ) is an anti-diabetic drug that reduces insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes. The results of this study suggest a link between the structures that have been utilized to describe the intermolecular interaction between the hydrogen bond donor and acceptor, as well as the stability of the EMs. From the calculated values of pOE model, the value of r 2 is 0.9995 confirms the validity of the equation obtained. Additionally, we have analyzed structure activity relationship (SAR) method to understand the physico-chemical properties of designed EMs and predict their regression and correlation to optimized energy. Further on changing the temperature, the parameters do not show much variation. Change in free energy for O1Z4 is least and was found to be − 37.2496 kcal/ mol. The results of the calculations showed that O1Z4 and O4Z1 have maximum dipole moment having values 8.1291, 9.8801 respectively, indicating maximum polarizability. Various other thermodynamic parameters are studied like dipole moment, hardness, chemical potential of the systems (individual molecules and EMs) at different temperatures. Further, the impact of varying the temperature on each system was also investigated (323K, 348K). DFT calculations is used to investigate the possibility of forming the systems (EMs). At room temperature, the stability of these various systems have been investigated using thermodynamic values or parameters such as enthalpy, free energy and others. The interaction between the hydrogen bond donor and hydrogen bond acceptor at atomic level to get EMs are studied using DFT calculations. In this work, DFT calculations for the designed eutectic mixtures (EMs) using oxoazolidine 2,4-dione (OZD) and zinc chloride (ZnCl2) are done. Petzl redesigned their ZigZag a few years ago now, coming out with a swivel version and one with a non-swivel. Both items are regarded as top of the line climbing systems, and for good reason too!Ĭlimbing on the Petzl ZigZag is an experience like no other simple, yet very effective! I tend to pair my ZigZag with Teufelbergerâs Pulleysaver which makes for a stellar combination that feels as if all the friction has been removed throughout the climb. In todayâs gear blog weâll be comparing two of the most sought out devices that we get questioned on regularly- Rock Exoticaâs Akimbo and Petzlâs ZigZag. Or, starting a feed on social media to get other peopleâs input on said device can really help narrow down the search. If you happen to know people that run mechanical devices, ask them for their honest opinion. Mechanicals can make your climbs feel frictionless when set up with a friction saver, and talk about silky smooth rope tending that saves the shoulders! Finding the right mechanical device to work for you can be a process on its own, especially with there being multiple devices and the recent advancements that just seem to be continuing on an upward trend! I remember when I began researching each mechanical device prior to purchasing and now it seems that I have pretty much one of each, but thatâs just due to my tree climbing gear addiction! Researching can be time consuming without a doubt. Then, I slowly made progress into working with eye-to-eye prussiks, eventually leading into climbing with mechanical devices. Clean the leaves gently with a moistened cotton ball to remove the mites.I began my climbing career 10 years ago on a traditional Blakeâs hitch like most do in this incredible tree care industry. One clue to this is that the plant's leaves will start to look a bit drab and dull. If the roots seem to have outgrown the pot, size up by 3 to 4 inches in diameter. The zigzag plant isn't bothered by too many pests sometimes spider mites become an issue. To do so: clip 1-inch stem sections on non-blooming stems. You should repot your zigzag plant plant every three years and replace the potting mix and amendments to prevent pests and fungus problems. Simply use clean garden shears to prune away troubled branches, and trim back the plant yearly, in late winter. The best time to snip cuttings for propagation is late summer. Zigzag plant should be planted outdoors in fall and winter.Zigzag plant is generally grown as a houseplant and is a fairly easy plant to grow and care for.Zigzag plant requires very little care in the way of pruning. Though they can be white or green, it is the red and bright pink ones that are most sought after and inspire the plant's many colorful folk names. The bracts appear in summer, but do not last a very long time. The plant goes fairly dormant in the autumn and winter, so discontinue any fertilizing at that time.A diluted solution of apple cider vinegar in water may be used to gently clean the leaves with a cotton ball, or try a homemade spray solution.Ä«ecause the "flowers" are actually leaf bracts, they don't produce any fragrance. Adding vermiculite, peat moss, and a bit of sand will help keep the soil evenly moist but not too wet.Using an unglazed clay pot with drainage holes in the bottom will help insure the soil drains effectively.Ī bit of fertilizer in spring and every three weeks or so thereafter can help it produce nice healthy bracts in summer. Grow Pedilanthus in full sun to partial shade in a very well-drained, sand-based soil. From spring to the middle of summer, add a liquid fertilizer when watering every three to four weeks. In the spring and fall, water moderately. Misting it a bit if your house is dry can help it stay healthy, and mimics the plant's preferred natural setting. The zig zag plant is drought-tolerant but does best in moist soil with regular watering throughout the summer and hardly at all during the winter. Overly bright sunlight may scorch the tender foliage, so keep an eye on it and move it or create some shade if this happens.Äespite being a tropical plant, zigzag plant doesn't like wet soil. If you position it in a very sunny window, a lightweight curtain or slatted blinds turned to half-position works to give this plan the sun exposure it needs. This plant does best with plenty of indirect sunlight. Rush's formal inauguration was held on April 19, 2002.
